Do you want to make your dashboards even more interactive for your users by giving them more control on the measures and dimensions being displayed? This is possible with the Measure/Dimension picker, which allows a deeper analysis within the same graph.
This is done via a dropdown menu in the chart containing values that you predefined. Your users can choose the desired measure or dimension data. The graph automatically updates and shows the relevant data.
The Measure/Dimension picker can be activated in all charts that contain columns with data.
You can navigate to the ‘Interactivity’ menu via the settings of the specific chart, where you can toggle on the ‘Measure/Dimension picker’ option, and a new modal will pop up.
This modal displays the different dataslots and which columns are added to it. Per slot, the desired columns you want your users to choose from can be added. Click ‘Save’ once the setup is tailored to your needs.
Let’s illustrate with a simple example using demo data. Imagine you have a dashboard visualizing your Google Ads performance. The bar chart displays the number of website conversions by keyword. Wouldn’t it be handy to be able to see the clicks per keyword via that same chart by simply switching or adding the column? This would also make your dashboard more compact.
The video below shows how this setup is easily obtained and how the result looks like.
The Measure/Dimension picker has several options you can use for extra customization.
Change the dropdown menu order of the columns per slot via drag and drop
Choose the desired column name
Adapt the aggregation of the columns to your needs
Allow your users to select and display multiple measures at the same time
The default selections are controlled by the setup of the slots in the chart. Changing these selections is as easy as dragging another column on the chart slot! Note: if you have no "measure" set on the chart, the default measure will be displayed as "Number of records".
You can also add non-default selections, via the Measure/Dimension picker modal, as explained above, in the "picker setup" section.
