If you have multiple datasets that are related, you can link them within Luzmo to create a comprehensive view of the data available for your dashboards. When one dataset is linked to another, a relationship is established following the lookup principle. In this process, the values in a specific column of the first dataset are matched with the corresponding values in the linked column of the second dataset. To ensure a successful link, it's important that the lookup column contains unique values, as the relationship can only be "many to one" or "one to one."

For this lesson, let's add both the United Widgets Customer and Sales datasets from the demo data. To link datasets, you can go to the databoard or dataset information pages and click on the link button at the top right. Then, select the dataset to link and establish the connection from one to the other. Make sure the linked columns have the same data type. If you accidentally open the link in the lookup table instead of the master table, you can easily switch them by clicking on the N-1 toggle. Be cautious not to create circular links, where two datasets are linked in both directions or form a loop with multiple datasets.

To remove a link, simply click on the equals symbol in the middle and select "Remove link."

When you link two datasets, they effectively become one for filtering purposes, allowing you to have charts with columns from one dataset filtered based on the values of another chart with columns from a linked dataset.
